Collaborative Power Building: Using the Journey Scroll to Equitably Document Retrospective Program Experience
The Journey Scroll is a collaborative participatory retrospective evaluation technique of documenting the history of a process, movement or program based on stakeholder recollection. The process involves engaging stakeholders in creating an interactive timeline with qualities of activities categorized based on modified characteristics inspired by the classic game “Chutes and Ladders.” Participants will learn by doing and receive tips on how to adapt the method to different situations. They will also be invited to contribute their own insights on method use. This professional development workshop will allow participants of all levels to walk through the process of facilitating a journey scroll as participants, with the goal of sharing how such a process can allow participating stakeholders to all have a voice and disrupt hierarchical notions of collective experiences, thereby speaking truth to power and themselves.
